Your new role as a Sysco people manager is an important one, in many ways. One of your new responsibilities will be managing your associates’ data in Workday. Accurate associate data is key to Sysco being able to manage our resources, and ultimately our business. Because you’re closest to your associates and are the most meaningful part of their relationship with Sysco, you’ll be responsible for making sure information about them is kept up to date.

Customize Your Worklets

Workday allows you to add additional worklets to your home page. To select from a list of available worklets:

1. Click the gear icon to the right of your name in the Workday page header.

2. Click the plus sign in the Optional Worklets section.

3. Click the button next to the worklet(s) you wish to add.

Some worklets can be removed by clicking the minus sign. Others, such as Pay and Absence, are required and cannot be removed.

Refer a Candidate

Do you know someone who would be a great fit for a job at Sysco? You can refer internal and external candidates directly from the Internal Careers section of Workday.

  • From The Dish!, click Our HR and then click PLACEHOLDER.
  • From Workday, click the Refer button at the top of a job posting. Only a first name, last name and email address are required, but you can provide more information if you have it.

Inbox Tasks vs. Notifications

Workday sends you two types of messages about business processes: Inbox tasks and Notifications. Inbox tasks (found by clicking the mailbox icon in the top right corner of your screen) require action on your part. For example, items you must approve are sent to your Inbox. Notifications (found by clicking the bell icon in the top right corner of your screen) simply provide information and don't require action.

Ending/Extending Contract Workers

Contingent worker contracts should be ended by the manager as soon as the contractor stops working at Sysco. End dates are included in the initial set-up of the Hiring Contingent Worker (Contractor) process.

If a Contingent Worker stays longer than originally planned, managers can extend their contract in Workday. 

Make it a point to regularly review your contracts and end/extend them appropriately. See the Organizational/Position Management job aid for more about contingent contracts.

Viewing Associates' Time Off Balances

When salaried associates request time off in Workday, the manager will receive an Inbox task to approve. To view the associate's time off balances before you approve, just click the View Balances button in the task message. You can also view time off balances for associates by going to their profile page and clicking Time Off on the left side of the page. Then click the Time Off Balance tab at the top.
